We had a good turnout this year with 21 and 20 pilots flying on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The weather also was a lot more bearable than last year. Although the cloud ceiling on Sunday was very low, prompting a delay of 30 minutes. Pilots meetings were held at 8:45am, with the first flight at 9am on Saturday and 9:30am on Sunday. We flew six rounds each on both days. Tasks varied from five to nine minutes. The format was random man-on-man for the first two rounds, then four rounds of seeded man-on-man. The landing task was graduated tape and scoring the ‘new’ ESL delta method. This was very well received by the pilots. We got a lot of help from club members and also the ESL guys. Thank you! The Grand Champion was Leszek Zyga. The scores are posted on the ESL website.
We will again host the SKSS Thermal Duration contest as part of the ESL contest schedule. This is an AMA sanctioned event.
The contest tasks will be announced by the Contest Director (seeded Man on Man; landing task: tbd). We will likely fly seven rounds per day and no flight after 3pm on Sunday.
Registration information can be found on the ESL website. Follow this link for directions. We will have a Novice class.
