From the SALglider group:
Just wanted to encourage you DLG flyers near the Mid-atlantic to
attend the South Jersey Silent Flyers ESL contest next weekend Sept 16-17. The venue is outstanding. We have mowed fields with nearby
woods that provide a constant source of cool air to be warmed by the field. In case of wind (Fat chance in the middle of September unless we get a tropical visitor) there are trees to slope off.
Check out the NOAA digital forcast matrix for wind speed at Phila area for the next week. There is three hours in the next 7 days when it gets up to 6 knots. The trees at the South side provide lots of shade to cool off after flights and most people don’t need to put up canopies. The competition is excellent based on preliminary registration and you can fly with and learn from the best in the nation. We don’t do much marketing we’re just interested in fun.
We’ll have the regular tasks with one or two wrinkles, nothing too far out. I will always have a couple of rounds with extra time so you don’t have to wreck your plane by trying to catch & throw in two seconds.
We’ll be having a BBQ – ribs and chicken – for lunch if we get 25 pilots. It’s the best time of the year to fly come on out and have a good time.
