ASG 29

What a glorious event! We had a lot of help from club members – thank you! The highlights were the full-scale ASG 29 on Saturday as well as the maiden of Erich’s Zoegling.

Videos by Alex. Nice job!

The thread on RCGroups has plenty of wonderful pictures and movies (post 58 onwards).

OK folks time to start packing and planning the trip to beautiful northern Delaware for the Silent Knights Soaring Society’s Fourth Annual Scale Aerotow.

Many changes this year, with the most important being we will now have a GAS TUG available for those large portly sailplanes now becoming quite popular here on the East coast.

We are still mainly an electric aerotow and again will have several electric tugs available to handle the majority of the towing with the gas tug restricted to the larger heavier sailplanes.

New this year will be a “Radian All Up Last Down” event with a special prize for the longest flight of a Radian (rules to follow).

After last years threat of bad weather we have been making arrangements with the weather gods and have ordered up some puffy white clouds, light winds, and of course those famous SKSS Booming Thermals.

BBQ lunch will be provided Saturday for pilots and crew (donations accepted).

Towing fees are $15 for one day, $20 for both days, Friday is FREE!

For the few who don’t know yet how to find us, here are the directions.

There are several hotels in the Newark area if you’re staying over the weekend. Hotel #1 is the closest to the field. All are within a few minutes drive.

If you want to bring the family, there are several local attractions:

What to do in Delaware
Longwood Gardens
Winterthur
Beaches
Tax Free Shopping

We fly within the State Park system so there is an entrance fee: $3/day for Delaware registered vehicles and $6/day for non-Delaware registered vehicles.

Soar with the RC Propbusters (AMA #191) on their annual three day weekend of AMA-sanctioned scale sailplane aerotow from their beautiful site in
Salem, CT. Towing from a manicured grass field, the surrounding farm fields and rural terrain produces great thermal activity! Here is the flyer with more details.
